Kelowna Cycling Road Report – 8th March 2008

We were out today in the Glenmore area, to a portion of the Mission Creek greenway and then back by way of Rutland. Some of the major and not so major routes (Glenmore and Dilworth) are swept but a good portion of them still need sweeping. There are a lot more cyclists out this last week – the weather has been great – and it seems to be reflected in more attention paid by motorists.

The portion of the Greenway we were on, from the Eco Centre to E. Kelowna Rd. near Hollywood S. Rd. was excellent. There was no snow or ice on it and it was great cycling. I would recommend this as a fairly short recreational ride – there is a few hundred yards of rocky single track towards the intersection with E. Kelowna Rd. so if you aren’t comfortable on a bike be prepared to walk a bit. It is best suited to a mountain bike as the surface is gravel. It is also relatively flat with no hills to speak of.
