Dangerous Intersection

I have had close calls twice in the last week at the intersection of Union Road and Valley Road. We used it (not any longer) to take a longer route over to Dilworth from the North Glenmore area. Riding towards Valley from Glenmore and turning left onto Valley Road is positively dangerous. The corner on Valley (towards town from the intersection with Union) is blind and vehicles travelling north cannot be seen until the last moment. It is bad enough for those in vehicles planning to turn towards Sexsmith but at least they have rates of acceleration that are generally faster than a cyclist. Also if they are hit they have a good chance of surviving intact.

The City plans to reroute Union in this area sometime in the future but there are indications that these plans are not near fruition. In the meantime I would suggest that cyclists take a different route to avoid the blind curve.
